Illustration

These are pieces I did after the Tsunami struck Indonesia and other countries in 2004. They are pretty literal pieces, drawn from newspapers and TV in reference to people speaking of the ghosts of those no longer there. Studies really. I felt that they captured the sense of loss I saw in the survivors. It is the same thing in the faces of the people who survived the earthquake in Haiti, the aloneness and loss of friends and family.

Art for Haiti

Painting for sale on my Etsy page in order to raise some funds for victims/survivors of the recent earthquake in Haiti. All proceeds will go to Yele, an organization created by Wyclef Jean.

From Yele's website:

Yéle Haiti is a foundation started by Grammy-Award winning musician, producer and social entrepreneur Wyclef Jean that is changing lives in this desperately poor but optimistic nation. Through Yéle Haiti, Wyclef uses music, sports and the media to reinforce projects that are making a difference in education, health, environment and community development. In practical terms this translates to over 3,000 new jobs, close to 7,000 children being put in school, more than 8,000 people a month receiving food and approximately 2,000 young people a month learning about HIV/AIDS prevention.

I will also take requests for commissions in order to help raise funds and provide much needed relief. Many thanks, Bill

Haiti

I just donated to the Yele Haiti Earthquake fund. Yéle Haiti is a grassroots movement that builds global awareness for Haiti while helping to transform the country through programs in education, sports, the arts and environment. Yéle’s community service programs include food distribution and mobilizing emergency relief. Grammy-Award winning musician, humanitarian and Goodwill Ambassador to Haiti Wyclef Jean founded Yéle Haiti in 2005.

To donate, you can use your cell pone by following the instructions in the image above, or go to their site, Yele Haiti

In a few days I will be posting original artwork and other items for sale on my Etsy page in order to help raise funds. Other than shipping costs, 100% of the sales will go to Yele Haiti.

Many thanks,

Bill

Painting on Etsy

Original painting for an ad I placed in the anthology, "Bento" story magazine, a 2000 publication of CCA illustration students' illustrations matched with short fiction pieces by contemporary writers.

This piece was the top third of the illustration which I did as a story in order to fit with the theme of the magazine.
Acrylic and collage on Crescent cold pressed illustration board.
17 x 11.75 in.
